LALD License Renewal Starts Soon - 30 Continuing Education Credits Required

This week the Board of Executives for Long-term Services and Supports (BELTSS) issued a notice to licensees that license renewal begins Sept. 1 and will conclude Oct. 31, 2024. To renew, the licensee must have earned 30 Continuing Education Credits between Sept.1, 2022 and Aug. 31, 2024, if originally licensed on or before Oct. 2022.

The rules for Licensed Assisted Living Directors (LALD) require licensees licensed through the legacy pathways to complete within the first year of licensure at least seven hours of continuing education in topics related to assisted living settings. On an ongoing basis, a LALD must complete 30 continuing education credits in qualifying areas within two years of the license renewal.

Self-Assessment Released for LALD Students

The Board of Executives for Long Term Services and Supports (BELTSS) has released the self-assessment tools for Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) students to utilize during their field experience. The self-assessment is part of a more extensive Assisted Living Director in Residence (ALDIR) toolkit, now available on the BELTSS website under "Forms and Tutorials." This toolkit will be the foundation for the field experience as mentors, and LALD students begin their time together.
