BELTSS Board Receives Over 2000 Legacy LALD Applications
Posted on June 16, 2021 by Bobbie Guidry
The Board of Executives for Long-term Services and Supports (BELTSS) has received over 2400 applications from those eligible for licensing under the legacy licensing opportunities. The deadline to apply via the legacy path is June 30.
Tips from BELTSS
The Board is currently pulling various pieces of received emails, resumes, work verifications, and background checks together for each applicant.
Applicants with a high school degree requesting licensure based on three years of experience leading in a housing with services establishment could greatly assist the process if they acknowledge their supervisory or managerial work.
For work verification, identify your name or other names used in your history. Also, identify if your prior experience was in a housing with services setting.
Process and Timeline
The Board's goal is to get licenses processed in June and July. If you have submitted your LALD application, the Board has provided your name to MDH so that the Department can process your assisted living license.
After the legacy deadline passes, new applicants will be required to take a 120-hour course and pass exams on core knowledge and assisted living rules and laws. Those who do not qualify for licensure under the legacy pathways or miss the deadline can lead assisted living settings by seeking an Assisted Living Director in Residence (ALDIR) permit and then completing the course work and exams within one year. BELTSS expects to make applications for ALDIRs available on or before July 1.
