MDH Releases BCA Transition Details

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) released a notice via GovDelivery indicating a transition pathway for Basic Care Aides (BCA) to become Nursing Assistants through an expedited process before the end of the 1135 Waiver.
BCA Access Remains, Funding Ends Sept. 10

Funding for the Basic Care Aide and Paid Feeding Assistant Training programs will end on Friday, Sept. 10. Access to the training will remain available to members through EduCare until the 1135 waiver expires, which has no known expiration date at this time. Non-EduCare users may access programs for a fee by contacting Jennifer Anderson or calling 952-288-3800.

Skilled nursing facilities have the ability to train caregivers quickly using the Basic Care Aide and Paid Feeding Assistant programs from EduCare. The expedited training programs are eligible under the current 1135 waiver, allowing you to train Basic Care Aides in just 9 hours and paid feeding assistants within 2 hours. Basic Care Aides are eligible to work in place of traditional nursing assistants.
New Website: Basic Care Aide Registration

LeadingAge National is hosting the Basic Care Aide through its Learning Hub. All non-EduCare users should have new students login through this portal beginning June 15. EduCare users should continue to access the training through their own EduCare library.
