Due Date Approaches for Cost Reports Delayed Due to COVID-19

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) delayed the due date for the cost report for the year ended Sept. 30, 2020 from Feb. 1, 2021 to April 1, 2021. That date is now approaching so members will need to focus on completing that report.
The special COVID-19 supplemental schedule that DHS is requiring this year to track the receipt and use of state and federal funds related to pandemic response, which was originally going to be due with the cost report, must now be submitted by May 3, 2021. That gives providers more time to concentrate on that reporting after filing the typical cost reports and the usual associated schedules.
The cost report materials, including instructions and schedules such as the COVID-19 schedule are available on the Nursing Facility Provider Portal. Because of the complexity of the COVID-19 reporting, DHS is working on an FAQ document. We are also encouraging them to schedule a webinar to respond to provider questions. The additional month to complete that form creates the opportunity to provide more guidance for providers as they work to provide that information.
