More than 3,300 professionals attended the 2021 virtual Institute last week. All sessions and keynote presentations are available for registered individuals to access on-demand viewing and earning CEUs from June 1 through July 31.

A four-part intensive workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the various new requirements with which Assisted Living providers will be expected to comply under the new licensure law. We will offer the workshop in a virtual format in the mornings of May 26, 27 and July 13, 14. It includes several topics all in one program series rather than individual sessions. This is an excellent series for assisted living teams to attend together.

FORWARD – that is the theme of the 2021 Virtual Institute, May 18-21, and it most definitely reflects the spirit of optimism we're feeling from our members. Over 3,000 people are registered to attend this historic virtual conference customarily held in St. Paul during February.

The assisted living licensure law represents a significant and historic change in how assisted living is provide and regulated in Minnesota and goes into effect Aug. 1. There is much for providers and individuals to do to prepare for its implementation.

AL directors are required to attest to having completed this requirement on both the AL licensure application and their application to become a licensed assisted living director.

This series is for organizations wanting to learn about this initiative and staff in participating organizations who have not yet completed training.

The Assisted Living Licensure application form is not yet final, but you can start preparing for the formal application due on June 1.

LeadingAge Minnesota’s acclaimed Leadership Academy is entering its twelfth year this June, and we are accepting applications through April 26. This 8-month program develops leadership capacity and core competencies of aging services professionals by tapping their natural talents and authentic leadership style. It blends leadership theory, applied learning, and personalized coaching to mentor current and emerging leaders in our field.

More than 30 organizations have already registered for the two-part virtual Governance Workshop, Next Gen Governance for a Next Gen World, on April 7 and 14. In the wake of the pandemic, it is important to shift focus from response to strategic recovery and resilience. The workshop is designed for executives and board members to identify risk areas and opportunities for strong operations in the short and long term. Participation includes a set of diagnostic assessments that will be used to create a roadmap for navigating disruption, change, strategy, opportunity and risk.

While Minnesota’s Assisted Living Licensure application form is not yet final and published, we expect it will be public on or about May 1. That leaves just a few short weeks for providers wanting to become licensed assisted living settings to complete their application in time to meet the June 1 deadline already in statute. MN Statute 144G.12 outlines several requirements that we expect to be on the application form, and you can start preparing now.

The LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation has set aside additional funds this year to provide partial and full scholarships for participants in LeadingAge Minnesota’s 2021 Leadership Academy, which begins June 2. Scholarships will be awarded based on financial hardship of the organization.
