Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby was recognized for its quality improvement project in LeadingAge Minnesota’s ICan Quality Improvement Contest.
About the ICan Quality Improvement contest
The ICan Quality Improvement Contest is a new program within LeadingAge Minnesota’s quality program created to provide quality improvement tools and strategies for staff to think about opportunities for improvement in a solution-focused way. Staff help lead the improvement projects that are implemented over several months.
A clean start
The “A Clean Start” team identified that many residents admitted to the Care Center from the hospital do not get a shower in the hospital and may not have had a shower for 1-2 weeks. Residents are assigned a shower day upon admission, which may be up to six days after admission. The team created a process to offer a shower, bath, or bed bath within 24 hours of admission to help ease the transition to the Care Center with “A Clean Start.”
