Workforce Solutions Grantees See Major Impacts in First Year

After one year, LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation workforce grants are generating results in many rural communities, and you can learn more about these incredible programs at our April 19 Workforce Solutions Conference. Here’s a preview:
- Employing digital marketing for recruiting has yielded a 46% increase in new hires, a 45% decrease in open positions and a 33% increase in applications. (Mother of Mercy in Albany)
- Re-engineering onboarding has contributed to improving the new hire experience. Results are a 69% decrease in nursing assistant turnover with no open positions. (Perham Home Care in Perham)
- Assigning peer mentors to new nursing assistants has supported a 20% reduction in nursing assistant turnover. (Grand Village in Grand Rapids)
- Supporting staff with an Employee Resource Connector to help solve problems that affect work performance has significantly reduced non-illness absences by 46% and 15% respectively. (Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park and Pelican Valley in Park Rapids)
- Developing leaders through an intensive five-session training program has helped with a 10% increase in 90-day retention and a 9% increase in 12-month retention. (Benedictine Living Center in Duluth)
- Implementing a new program for advanced dementia care has produced a 70% reduction in staff injuries. (Winona Health)

LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation distributed $1 million in workforce solutions grants in 2017. Forty-two projects, of up to $25,000 each, were implemented in rural communities throughout the state.
