LeadingAge MN is excited to find its next highly-skilled team member to support our growing membership portfolio of senior housing members.
Role Description
As the Director of Senior Housing Policy & Expert Support, you will lead public policy analysis and advocacy on senior housing issues at the federal, state, and municipal levels. You will also provide technical assistance and support for senior housing services, including independent, subsidized, market rate, and co-op settings. Additionally, you will join a team of Association experts to support members who offer adult day, assisted living, and customized living services.
What you’ll do as the Director of Senior Housing Policy & Expert Support:
- Policy Expertise and Advocacy: Provide technical expertise on the senior housing continuum and conduct lobbying activities on housing issues at state and municipal levels.
- Technical Assistance and Support: In collaboration with internal teams, deliver timely, thorough support on housing services and assisted living issues.
- Education and Resource Development: Develop and oversee resources, curricula, and educational materials tailored to member needs and industry trends.
- Committee and Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate committees, professional networks, and workgroups and represent the Association with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and elected officials.
- Communication and Data Analysis: Share timely information via newsletters, webinars, and other channels while analyzing and reporting relevant data and market trends.
What do you need to be successful?
- At least 5 years of direct experience in senior housing operations and/or Home & Community-Based Services, with lived provider experience in affordable and market-rate senior housing operations.
- Post-secondary education in public policy, social work, or a related field; equivalent work experience also considered. An Assisted Living Director (ALD) license is preferred. Familiarity with state and federal housing regulations and landlord/tenant laws, and ability to serve as a registered lobbyist.
- Solid critical thinking, problem-solving, public speaking, and writing skills, with basic proficiency in Microsoft Office. In-state travel may be required.
