Vaccination Rates Now Available on Care Compare
Posted on September 23, 2021 by Jeff Bostic
Earlier this week, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that staff and resident vaccination rates for all care centers have been posted on the Care Compare website.
The page for each care center now has a button labeled "view COVID-19 vaccination rates," giving any site user quick access to those figures. The data currently posted is through Sept. 5, and CMS plans to update the statistics every two weeks.
In addition to individual facility rates, the website also includes state and national vaccination rates. Care center staff rates for full vaccination in Minnesota are 67%, up from 66% in the last report from MDH a couple of weeks ago. The national rate is 64%, making Minnesota slightly above the countrywide average.
Vaccination rates of residents are much higher, as they consistently have been throughout the pandemic. The Minnesota resident rate is 91%, the same as the last MDH report. The national rate is lower, at just 84%. The Minnesota Department of Health has paused their collection of vaccination data from assisted living providers for a few weeks, and they will do a new survey next week. A couple of weeks ago, the most recent data showed a staff rate of 66% and a resident rate of 95%.
The general population vaccination rate in Minnesota has also been improving; 73% of those 16 and older and 93% of those 65 and older have received at least one vaccine dose. The staff and resident vaccination rates in care centers are similar to those figures, showing that our workers and residents largely reflect trends in the broader population.
