Two-hour Time Limit Continues for Nurse Aide Knowledge Test
Posted on February 22, 2024 by Anna Mowry
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) announced that the knowledge test for the nurse aide exam will continue to have a two-hour completion time limit to support candidates with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
Background
In October 2022, MDH increased the time allowed to complete the Nurse Aide Knowledge Test to two hours to ensure all candidates would have the best opportunity to be successful.
In October 2023, MDH reviewed data and engaged in conversations with partners and leadership, including LeadingAge Minnesota. The decision has been made to continue with the two-hour timeframe to ensure all candidates can be successful.
What do nurse aides and programs need to do?
If you are a nurse aide candidate who is taking the Knowledge Test, make sure that you are able to complete the test within two hours. If you need an accommodation for a disability or limitation, please refer to the MN Nursing Assistant Candidate Handbook.
If you are a nurse aide training program or test site, make sure that your reference materials used by candidates or proctors reflect the two-hour completion time.
More information is available on the MDH Nurse Aide Testing Information website. You can also contact MDH directly at 651-201-4200 or health.fpc-nar@state.mn.us.
