Time for Care Centers to Select new QIIP Goals
Posted on May 26, 2021 by Jeff Bostic
DHS recently prepared the data needed for all care centers in the Medical Assistance program to select a new goal to work on for another round of the Quality Improvement Incentive Payment Program (QIIP). Each year, based on their progress toward the goal they select, care centers receive a rate increase of $0 to $3.50 per resident day.
Usually under QIIP, care centers select one Minnesota Nursing Home Report Card quality of care or quality of life measure to improve using their choice of interventions. This year due to a delay in the schedule of the quality of life survey because of the COVID-19 pandemic, providers have to choose a quality of care measure. The quality of life survey measures will be available as an option again next year.
By July 1, providers are being asked to select a QIIP goal for the rate year beginning Jan. 1, 2023. Incentive payments for that year will be based on performance on a chosen measure for July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. Providers will find information related to submitting a QIIP selection and the performance standards they need to meet for each measure they may choose after signing in to the DHS nursing facility portal.
