Senior LinkAge Line Issues Advisory on Medicare Plan Finder
Posted on November 26, 2019 by Jonathan Lips
The Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging (MAAA) is advising Medicare Beneficiaries who have used the Medicare Plan Finder to call health plans and confirm costs.
The Medicare Plan Finder tool is a resource that helps people select a Medicare plan that meets individual needs. Senior LinkAge Line specialists have noticed inaccuracies in the data provided by the Medicare Plan Finder. MAAA said the Centers for Medicare & Medicai Services (CMS) is working diligently to fix the tool, but results continue to be inconsistent and potentially wrong.
Medicare beneficiaries who selected a plan based on information provided on the Medicare Plan Finder, especially in the early weeks of the Open Enrollment Period, are advised to call the plan directly to confirm that the costs and options are as expected, including drugs costs.
MAAA has prepared a flyer you can post to notify residents about the issue.
Medicare Open Enrollment continues through Dec. 7. The Minnesota Board on Aging’s Health Care Choices for Minnesotans on Medicare is now available. To request a printed copy, call the Senior LinkAge Line® at 1-800-333-2433 or complete an online request.
