Resources Now Available – Prevent Drug Diversion in Long-Term Care
Posted on August 28, 2019 by Julie Apold
New resources to prevent drug diversion in long-term care are now available. The Minnesota Pathway to Prevent Diversion of Controlled Substances in Long-Term Care features a pathway and support tools to help you increase awareness, assess your processes, create individual plans for intervention implementation, and measure your outcomes.
In addition to the Prevention Pathway, support tools include leadership guidance and education, curriculum and competency, equipment guidance, and draft letters to delivery services, long-term care medical directors and long-term care pharmacists. The project was first unveiled at a provider gathering in August. A video of that conference is available here.
The resource is a joint project between the Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Department of Human Services, which sought input from a variety of partners that included LeadingAge Minnesota. It is funded through Minnesota Civil Money Penalty Reinvestment Program (CMP).
