Resource Round-Up: Testing; New COVID-19 Case Management Model
Posted on May 26, 2020 by Jodi Boyne
This week’s COVID-19 Resource Round-Up features a new training video on specimen collection, an updated FAQ on testing and a link to the new process MDH is using for COVID-19 case management.
- Specimen Collection Training Video: 4-minute video on how to sample suspected COVID-19 cases. The nasopharyngeal swab demonstrated in the video is the preferred testing method of the CDC. When performing the swab, take special care to reduce the risk of infection and ensure the reliability of swab results. Please note the swab used in this video fits entirely into the sample collection tube. Some swabs may have a red ring around it where you will insert the swab into a collection tube and break the swab at the red mark.
- Testing FAQ: MDH late last week reviewed and revised the preliminary Testing FAQ we developed in partnership with Care Providers of MN. The FAQ is subject to change. We will continue to update this document based on new information from MDH and with additional questions/answers we receive as the state rolls out its testing plan.
- MDH Case Management Model: MDH last week revised its approach to COVID-19 case management. Download this document for an overview of the process and what steps you should take when you have a positive case in your setting.
