Reduce Childcare Shortage for Staff – Grant Opportunity
Posted on June 23, 2019 by Jenna Kellerman
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is seeking partners for Child Care Economic Development Grants. The grant program may provide up to $100,000 per award to help implement solutions to reduce the child care shortage in the state.
Find details about the proposal on DEED’s Competitive Grants webpage. Find the Proposal and Webinar information here. Grant applications are due by Friday, July 26.
One of the barriers to being a successful staff member is having reliable childcare. Unfortunately, many staff members are unable to maintain employment due to inadequate childcare coverage.
Lack of childcare availability also has a negative impact on regional economic growth. In fact, Minnesota has a shortage of more than 37,000 childcare slots, resulting in workforce shortage, quality child care concerns, high cost and more.
