Recruit the Next Generation: Summer Health Care Internship Program
Posted on March 6, 2018 by Jenna Kellerman
Employer applications are being accepted for the 2018 Summer Health Care Internship Program. Skilled nursing, home care providers and adult day centers are encouraged to participate. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 13.
The internship program helps to build a pipeline for workers in our organizations by allowing students to explore health care careers and gain experience in a long-term services and supports setting. The initiative is also a great opportunity for employers to become more involved in their communities.
Interns will be students in their junior or senior years of high school, or post-secondary students enrolled in a healthcare program. Consider an intern to assist with:
- Welcoming new residents
- Assisting with administrative tasks
- Helping with activities and outings
- Assisting with documentation
- Researching, collecting, or interpreting data
- Visiting with residents
- Kicking off a new program
- Designing recruitment or retention strategies
Up to half of an intern’s wages are reimbursed through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Health Office of Rural Health and Primary Care. The grant is administered by the Minnesota Hospital Association. The employer application form is available on the MHA website. The application deadline is April 13 at 5 p.m.
Start building the workforce of tomorrow!
