Which Setting has Higher Long Term Care Insurance Claims?
Posted on July 30, 2019 by Jodi Boyne
As first reported by McKnight’s Senior Living, the 2019 Milliman Long Term Care Insurance Survey shows average individual long-term care insurance claim amounts for care in assisted living settings are much higher than claim amounts for home care or care in nursing homes.
Individual claims for all assisted living participants averaged $93,635, compared with $43,467 for home care and $63,751 for nursing facilities, according to the latest data.
The authors of the survey report said individual claims for care in assisted living facilities are “consistently high” for four possible reasons. To see these reasons and more, read Average LTC Policy Claim Amounts for Assisted Living Top Other Settings in McKnight’s Senior Living.
