Nursing Leadership Symposium to Address External Requirements and Standards
Posted on May 29, 2018 by Elizabeth Sether, RN, MHA, LNHA
The next session of the LeadingAge Minnesota Nursing Leadership Symposium, which takes place June 12-14 in Brooklyn Center, is directed at familiarizing nurse leaders with the various federal and state regulations impacting licensed care facilities in Minnesota.
The participants will hear from key agency staff charged with oversight of regulations and have the opportunity to talk with them about the implementation of practice standards.
The session will include survey preparedness and compliance, reporting of vulnerable adult incidents, function of the nurse assistant registry, acquiring criminal background checks and follow-up, and leveraging clinical and quality of life indicators in helping to direct purposeful organizational quality improvement.
The 31 participants in the June session are taking their next step on the journey to complete the full, five-part symposium. Three nurse leaders successfully completed the program in May. Congratulations to (L to R): Katie Fadell-Mann, RN, Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City; Laurie Peniska, RN, St. Francis Health System - Browns Valley Health Center; and Mary Matthew, RN, Broen Home - Fergus Falls.
