New Reference to “Up To Date” Vaccination Status in Guidance
Posted on March 3, 2022 by Kari Everson
On Jan. 21, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its Interim Guidance for Managing Healthcare Personnel with SARS-CoV-2 Infection or Exposure to SARS-CoV-2. There were two small changes to the guidance.
First, the grid for Work Restrictions for HCP with SARS-CoV-2 Infection and Exposures updated the vaccination status column. Vaccination status is now referred to as "up to date" and "not up to date." An individual is up to date on vaccinations if they received the primary COVID-19 vaccine and all recommended booster doses or received the primary COVID-19 vaccine and are not yet eligible for a booster dose. Someone is not up to date on recommended vaccines if they are not vaccinated or have received the primary vaccine but have not received the recommended booster dose(s) but are eligible for subsequent booster doses.
The second minor change includes written clarification for asymptomatic individuals who had COVID infection in the last 90-days. If those who have had COVID in the previous 90-days remain asymptomatic, there is no need to test or quarantine these individuals after a high-risk exposure during that 90-day timeframe.
