National Health Plan Association Indicates Plans Will Follow CMS SNF Policies During Emergency
Posted on March 25, 2020 by Jeff Bostic
The American Association of Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), which include many plans that offer Medicare Advantage plans to Minnesota consumers, recently announced that they are going to be matching the recent “blanket” CMS waivers on the three day stay and benefit period requirements.
This change will help hospitals throughout the state move patients to more appropriate settings of care as they prepare for a likely influx of COVID-19 patients. To further expedite transfer of clients, AHIP announced they are waiving the prior authorization requirement and the post-acute provider will just need to notify the plan within one day of transfer.
These policies will be in effect during the duration of the national emergency.
