More MDH Anonymous Feedback Results are In!
Posted on June 13, 2024 by Mark Schulz
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has made public its anonymous survey process feedback results to date. After its initial launch in summer 2023, an unexpected software issue impacted the collection process resulting in a short delay of collection efforts. After its relaunch in October, the results of the anonymous feedback tool are now available.
Background
When MDH surveyors and investigators visit our settings, including assisted living sites, some members have good experiences with MDH staff while others have an experience that could be better. Members asked LeadingAge Minnesota to work on ways to help make survey encounters more collaborative and less stressful.
MDH encourages providers to fill out the Feedback Questionnaire to tell them how the Health Regulation Division (HRD) staff did while onsite during a survey or investigation. The questionnaire is fully anonymous. The survey responses do not include any submitter information unless the submitter provides such information within their responses to MDH.
The feedback provided is important to MDH to identify ways for them to improve their procedures and communication.
2024 Feedback Results
Through May 2024 there have been over 260 questionnaire responses provided to MDH. Highlights reflect a variety of situations (survey or investigation) and licensure types (nursing home, assisted living, or home care). The majority of respondents either “agreed or strongly agreed” with the questions—reflecting a positive survey or investigation experience.
For example:
- 205 of 266 respondents stated MDH staff treated the residents and their visitors with respect and dignity.
- 202 of 266 respondents stated MDH staff treated the facility staff with respect and dignity.
- 192 of 266 respondents stated MDH provided the facility opportunities to submit additional information or documentation during the survey or investigation.
MDH reminds providers that if you have specific concerns about an individual MDH-HRD employee while they are onsite in your facility, they invite you to bring those concerns directly to the supervisor or operations manager of the employee at the time of the situation.
