MDH Home Care Matters Call Provides Information on Transition to Assisted Living Licensure
Posted on December 2, 2020 by Bobbie Guidry
In a special “Home Care Matters” call this week, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) provided basic information on assisted living licensure and the transition for settings currently registered as Housing with Services Establishments with “arranged home care providers” to licensure as assisted living facilities.
MDH reported that applications for assisted living and assisted living with dementia care licensure are anticipated to be available approximately May 1, 2021.
The MDH proposed rules to regulate assisted living settings are available to view at Assisted Living Facilities Proposed Rules – 10/8/20. The rules have not yet been posted for the official public comment period. A formal 30-day public comment period will begin once the Notice of Public Hearing is published in late 2020.
On the call, Lindsey Krueger, RN, Health Facilities Section Chief, Interim Program Manager, Home Care and Assisted Living Program, responded to participant questions and shared plans for similar calls in February, April, and more frequently in the months leading up to Assisted Living Licensure implementation in August of 2021.
The call was recorded and will be posted on the MDH Assisted Living Licensure page. The information shared will also be posted as a Fact Sheet on the site is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document.
