LeadingAge Minnesota Members Advocate in Washington, DC.

This week, several members of LeadingAge Minnesota attended LeadingAge's annual Leadership Summit. In conjunction with the conference, LeadingAge facilitated meetings with our state delegation in Congress to discuss several policy priorities to ensure we have enough caregivers to provide safe, quality care for Minnesota's seniors.
LeadingAge Minnesota members and staff met with congressional staff in the offices of:
- Rep. Michelle Fischbach
- Rep. Tom Emmer
- Rep. Angie Craig
- Sen. Amy Klobuchar
- Sen. Tina Smith
In each meeting, we focused on the workforce challenges our sector faces. More specifically, we asked for support on immigration reform that would allow more licensed (HR 1909/S. 747) and unlicensed (HR 2999/S. 2344) care professionals to legally enter our country. We also took the opportunity to share our concerns about the Administration's proposal to significantly reform nursing homes by introducing burdensome regulations such as staffing ratios and increased penalties.
