LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation Welcomes Gina DiMaggio
Posted on February 29, 2024 by Lori Meyer
With great excitement, the LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation welcomes Gina DiMaggio as our new Foundation Director. Gina comes to us with deep experience in philanthropy —serving most recently as Senior Program Manager for the Medica Foundation and the Pohlad Family Foundation before that.
Gina was particularly drawn to this work because she grew up in a multi-generational household that included her amazing grandmother. “Her value in my life cannot be overstated. I had the honor of caring for her at the end of her life, and I have a tremendous amount of respect and gratitude for caregivers and the amazing people who support the dignity and well-being of people at the end of their lives. They are unsung heroes, and I can’t wait to have my new role lift up this vital work.”
We asked Gina for some fun facts so everyone can get to know her:
Q: What’s the best place you’ve traveled?
A: Italy! That is where I met my husband and where we got married.
Q: Are you a sports fan?
A: Unfortunately, not my jam. Despite my last name, I know next to nothing about baseball.
Q: What is your “signature dish”?
A: I make a great spaghetti al limone that I like to top with crispy prosciutto.
Q: What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?
A: I spent several days biking and hiking on mountainous jungle trails in Laos to visit a Hmong village and bring basic supplies. I also spent a milestone birthday with Guarani Indians in a remote region of Paraguay. I also have two little kids. Hahaha! Kidding, not kidding.
