Keep Adult Day Services in National Study of Long-Term Care Providers
Posted on May 1, 2018 by Roni Falck
Adult Day Services are an integral part of the long-term care continuum, but a potential move by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) could put up a barrier in advancing the use of these valued community-services.
The CDC is currently seeking comments on whether to include Adult Day Services in the National Study of Long-Term Care Providers. LeadingAge Minnesota strongly supports the continued inclusion of Adult Day Services as a provider group.
The National Study of Long-Term Care Providers is the first ever federally funded national study of the major providers of long-term care that includes adult day services providers. The data from this study will be an important resource for researchers and policymakers to use to learn more about adult day services.
There is not enough research on adult day services, which has presented a barrier for advancing the use of adult day services in the long-term services and supports delivery system. The results of this survey will also help seniors, persons with disabilities, and caregivers learn more about the important services offered in these programs.
We encourage adult day members to submit comments supporting inclusion of Adult Day Services in the study. Email comments will not be accepted. Mail or fax comments by May 6 to:
