Judy Rubertus, Boutwells Landing, Named Volunteer of the Year at Institute
Posted on February 9, 2023 by Libbie Chapuran
Judy Rubertus, a volunteer with Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights, MN, has been named LeadingAge Minnesota’s Volunteer of the Year Award. The award recognizes individuals who volunteer in older adult services for their dedication, commitment, and positive impact on the lives of seniors and their communities.
Since moving in as a resident seven years ago, Rubertus has volunteered to help people find purpose and happiness. She is always coming up with new ideas—making crafts, a painting class, or a writing project. She leads a bell choir that performs all year long. She does sing-alongs with puppets in memory care and makes quilts to donate to local organizations. She even wrote and performed a special song to honor the Boutwells Landing staff at an employee recognition event.
Her background as a nurse gives Rubertus insight into caring for others, especially older adults. She enjoys working in the memory care area at Boutwells Landing where she finds inventive ways to reach these residents. Keeping residents active is her mission and she welcomes everyone to become involved with programs and activities.
Congratulations to District Volunteers of the Year, including:
- Monte Mowry, District F
- Marlene Martinek, District G
