Johnson & Johnson Vaccination Clinic Slated for the Weekend in Eagan
Posted on March 3, 2021 by Kari Everson
MDH was able to order a large number of doses of the newly authorized Johnson & Johnson Janssen Ad-Vac (J&J), which utilizes 1 dose to vaccinate against COVID-19. The doses will be delivered to the state mid-week.
As a result, MDH is planning a vaccination event in the metro-area which will likely start on Friday and be open until Tuesday. MDH may add an additional day on Wednesday depending upon registration so it is important to have staff signed up through the vaccination connector. MDH anticipates the vaccination clinic will be held at the Vikings practice facility in Eagan. Health care workers in the 1a vaccination category are eligible to receive the vaccine at this clinic.
This event will be a great option for many of the long-term care staff that have not yet been vaccinated. This could include new staff, those who were not eligible at the time of first or second clinics, staff that did not want vaccine at first but have chosen to vaccinate now. Additionally, this could be an opportunity for staff in adult day and home care who have not yet be able to receive the vaccine.
The J&J vaccination is NOT an option for those who have already received one dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. And, unfortunately, J&J is not approved for emergency use in those younger than 18.
Sign Up Information
Those who wish to be involved in this vaccination effort should fill out the Vaccination Connector form as soon as possible. MDH is scheduled to pull the list of names by noon on Thursday, March 4. Make sure to indicate “yes, I am” to the first question in the demographic detail indicating you are a healthcare worker and work in a healthcare facility. Under the area where you indicate which industry in which you work, select “other” and in the comments section indicate for staff who work in long-term care.
Contact information for those health care workers signed up will be pulled at noon on Thursday and an invitation with registration link will be sent.
