HCBS Enrolled Provider Revalidation Expands
Posted on January 4, 2024 by Bobbie Guidry
Starting January 2024, the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) will send revalidation notices on the 15th of every month (or the next business day if the 15th is on a weekend or holiday).
January’s communication will expand the revalidation process to include Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) providers with practice names starting with letters P and Q.
HCBS includes Customized Living (Assisted Living) and Adult Day Services, among other provider types not included in LeadingAge Minnesota’s membership.
Learn more about revalidation
Check the revalidation section of the Provider Screening Requirements page of the Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) Provider Manual for more information on revalidation and to view the revalidation schedule. The revalidation schedule will be updated on an ongoing basis.
Revalidation request via MN-ITS
You will receive a revalidation request letter to notify you that your revalidation is due. DHS will place revalidation request letters into the PRVLTR folder of your MN–ITS mailbox. Refer to the MN–ITS Mailbox User Guide for instructions on using the mailbox or review the Using the MN–ITS Mailbox on-demand video.
DHS will send the revalidation request letter via the U.S. Postal Service if you do not have a registered MN- ITS account. To ensure no delay in receiving your notice, update your information, such as practice address and mailing address, whenever it changes. If you received your revalidation request letter through the U.S. Postal Service, you must register your MN–ITS account to ensure timely notifications. Refer to the Welcome Letter you received when you first enrolled for instructions to register for MN–ITS. If you do not have a copy of your Welcome Letter, call the MHCP Provider Resource Center to ask for a copy.
Alternative: check the Minnesota Provider Screening and Enrollment (MPSE) portal
You can also see if you are due for revalidation using the Minnesota Provider Screening and Enrollment (MPSE) portal. Log into MN–ITS and click on the MPSE portal link. This will open the Manage Portfolio page. Go to the Revalidations section and click on the Manage Enrollment Records Due for Revalidation link. This will take you to the Enrollment Records with a Revalidation In-Process page, displaying a list of enrollment records due for revalidation. Review the Revalidation MPSE User Manual page for additional instructions on completing your revalidation in the MPSE portal.
After you receive your revalidation notice
When you receive your revalidation notice, if you do not submit all required documentation within the required timelines and do not comply with all screening requirements, DHS may revoke your billing privileges and end your MHCP enrollment (Minnesota Statutes, 256B.04, subdivision 22 and 256B.064).
