Posted on August 28, 2019 by Jodi Boyne
Gov. Tim Walz issued a proclamation naming Aug. 14 as Lawrence Massa Appreciation Day in Minnesota in honor of Massa’s distinguished career in advance of his retirement Sept. 6. Massa has been the president and CEO of MHA for the past 11 years and served as chief executive officer of Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar from 1994 to 2008.
Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan presented the proclamation at a retirement reception. The proclamation recognized Massa for successfully advocating for health care coverage for low-income Minnesotans, expanding MHA’s award-winning quality and patient safety improvement work, advocating for significant increases in mental health funding over the last four legislative sessions and developing strong collaborations to bring about positive change for Minnesotans.
