Free Basic Training for New MDS Nurses on March 20

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Licensing and Certification Program is offering a free one-day MDS class, Basic Training for New MDS Nurses, on March 20. The class is intended for new MDS nurses with less than one-year experience. Space is limited, so register early!
The MDS training is presented by the State RAI Coordinator, Nadine Olness, RN RAC-CT. For the best experience, participants should have some experience completing the MDS. Participants must register by the end of the business day on Friday, March 15.
Meeting Details:
- When: Wednesday, March 20 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Where: MDH, 85 East 7th Place, Saint Paul. Check in at Room 220.

- OBRA and PPS Assessment Scheduling Requirements
- A Review of the Most Common MDS Coding Errors
- Overview of the CAA Process

I’m a new DON at my facility. I have knowledge about MDS, but I would like to know more and to have a better understanding of this. Can I attend this training even though I’m not an MDS nurse. I’d like to be able to help my nurse managers when any questions or concerns arise. Thank you.
