Expedited Paid Feeding Assistant Curriculum is Available for Free until June 6!
Posted on April 28, 2022 by Anna Mowry
The expedited Paid Feeding Assistant training allowed by CMS throughout the pandemic will end in June.
Last year, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) modified the minimum training requirement for Paid Feeding Assistants from eight hours to one hour under a waiver from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). In an April 7 Memorandum, CMS announced it will terminate the waiver on June 6.
MDH has confirmed that any individual who completed the Paid Feeding Assistant training under the waiver and consistently demonstrated the necessary competency to work in a feeding assistant capacity will not be required to complete a full eight-hour training after the waiver expires.
Our partners at EduCare have released the only MDH-approved expedited curriculum in Minnesota, a 2.5-hour course with competencies. Thanks to the generous support of the LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation and EduCare, the Paid Feeding Assistant program is available at no cost to LeadingAge Minnesota members. It will be available until the waiver expires on June 6.
Take advantage of this time savings by completing the Paid Feeding Assistant curriculum before June 6. After the waiver expires, MDH will require eight hours of training for new feeding assistants.
