Engage Staff in Decision Making
Posted on October 8, 2019 by Jenna Kellerman
Getting staff input on decisions is important. When staff feel their opinion matters, they feel empowered in their roles and connected to the organization.
While staff input is key, it is important to only gather input that you will really use. If staff notice a pattern that you ask for their opinion but never act upon the feedback, then you will appear insincere. So ask for their input – and truly consider their responses!
Is the staff lounge due for a new coat of paint? Are staff badges or uniforms getting replaced? Is your organization considering implementing blended roles or a significant culture change? Is your organization participating in Performance Excellence or Safe Care for Seniors? Engage staff for input!
The Ritz-Carlton has a service value stating, “I’m involved in the planning of the work that affects me.” Help your team feel like they are a part of the decisions that affect them.
