Electronic Visit Verification Applied to Specific Service Codes for Home Care Providers
Posted on October 31, 2024 by Bobbie Guidry
The 21st Century Cures Act, Public Law 114–255 (PDF), requires providers of personal care, including personal care assistance (PCA) and some waiver services and home health care providers to use electronic visit verification (EVV) to document that people are receiving the services that are billed to the state. Minnesota began implementing EVV on June 20, 2022.
Determining if EVV is Required
The services/billing codes determine if EVV is required for a home health provider (rather than licensure type). A provider may reference the services tab on the EVV page to determine whether or not EVV is required for any given service.
The Minnesota EVV system will verify:
- Type of service performed
- Who received the service
- Date of service
- Location of service delivery
- Who provided the service
- When the service begins and ends.
Quarterly Webinars
The Minnesota Department of Human Services offers quarterly webinar sessions to providers required to use EVV. The webinar sessions cover updates, resources, and Q&A. A webinar session is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2024.
