This election season, LeadingAge Minnesota members around the state are hosting candidate forums to provide a platform for local candidates to discuss issues affecting older adults and Minnesota’s aging services sector.
Candidates Discuss Issues Affecting Older Adults and Aging Services
On Wednesday, October 9, Ebenezer hosted community members and residents at Amira Choice Champlin for a candidate forum for Minnesota State House District 34A. Candidates for that seat, incumbent Representative Danny Nadeau (R) and challenger Brian Raines, discussed a variety of issues impacting older adults and aging services providers in Minnesota.
Topics included funding for waivered services, workforce shortages, LPNs scope of practice, improving access to care, and more. Both candidates expressed a willingness and desire to work across the aisle, setting aside differences to solve the complex challenges facing our sector. It was encouraging to hear the candidates share that they view aging services as a priority issue going into the 2025 legislative session.
The forum was moderated by Abby Schulz, Executive Director at Amira Choice Champlin. Abby – along with Jane Edmundson, Outreach and Sales Director – in partnership with the team at Ebenezer, did fantastic work to organize the forum.
