DLI Posts Updated Quick Reference Guide to Care Facilities for Building and Fire Code Requirements
Posted on May 30, 2024 by Bobbie Guidry
A very helpful tool in determining building and fire code requirements for licensed settings in Minnesota is the Quick Reference Guide to Care Facilities (mn.gov).
The Guide was not due to be updated until 2026, but following a suggestion made by LeadingAge MN VP of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, Mark Schulz, the tool has been updated to reflect the current requirements for Assisted Living and Assisted Living with Dementia Care.
Also included in the guide are requirements for other licensed settings including Adult Day, Nursing Homes, and Adult Foster Care. The Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) normally updates this guide whenever there is a code change, every six years. DLI is also the entity responsible for plan reviews: Building plan review | Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (mn.gov).
