DHS Provides Information on Provider Enrollment for Assisted Living Providers
Posted on May 19, 2021 by Jeff Bostic
With assisted living licensure taking effect on Aug. 1, settings that provide customized living services under the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) waiver programs wonder what steps they need to take to maintain continued waiver payment. This document from the Long-Term Care Imperative covers various scenarios and how to proceed with updating provider enrollment. Based on information from DHS, here is what needs to be done for provider enrollment after licensure:
- If the currently enrolled customized living provider (the home care agency) has the same owner name and Federal Tax ID as the new licensed assisted living provider, then providers must submit a copy of the new license to update their enrollment and continue payment.
- If the currently enrolled customized living provider (the home care agency) does not have the same owner name and Federal Tax ID as the new licensed assisted living provider, then a new provider enrollment application will need to be completed by the assisted living licensee.
The DHS website has information specific to this change, including how to apply for a new provider enrollment. The site also has information about registering for one of three sessions DHS is hosting May 25-27 for providers who want to learn more about updating their provider enrollment or submitting a new enrollment application.
Providers can now update enrollment and apply for a new enrollment using the Minnesota Provider Screening and Enrollment (MPSE) portal.
