DHS Posts Form to Request Waiver of SNSA Maximum Charges
Posted on May 26, 2020 by Jeff Bostic
There is a new process for waiving maximum charge limits for Supplemental Nursing Service Agencies (SNSAs) when they are providing staff to work in Medicaid-certified nursing facilities that serve residents with COVID-19.
The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) recently posted details on the Nursing Facility Provider Portal, including information for nursing homes and for SNSAs as well as a form to request higher SNSA rates.
Under the process designed by DHS and the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), the nursing facility completes the form requesting the higher rates for SNSAs that DHS and SEOC will approve based on the necessity of the higher rates to maintain adequate staffing.
Cost increases for SNSA charges approved through this process will be reimbursed to providers through Form A EZ (or potential future versions of that form) on the Nursing Facility Provider Portal. Cost increases approved through this process are not allowable costs on the annual cost report and must be claimed on the special forms posted on the portal.
