DHS Postpones Transition to Fingerprint-Based Background Studies for MDH-Licensed Providers
Posted on January 27, 2022 by Jonathan Lips
The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has postponed the Wednesday, Feb. 2, transition date for Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) providers to return to fingerprint-based background studies.
MDH providers are now scheduled to resume fingerprint-based studies for new study subjects on March 2. If needed, please review the list of MDH regulated provider types in group 4, which includes home care, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes, among others.
MDH provider entities should continue to submit emergency background studies through March 1. DHS will send additional communications and instructions to MDH providers in advance of the rescheduled date to return to full compliance background studies via GovDelivery.
The most up-to-date information is available at this DHS webpage concerning the transition from emergency studies to full compliance.
Individuals who received emergency studies will need to have a fully compliant study by July 2, 2022, to continue to work after that date. Providers can submit a fingerprint-based background study for current employees working under an emergency background study beginning April 6.
DHS has posted a Fingerprint Vendor Transition Guide that will benefit providers.
We will continue to follow the transition process and share any updates with members as we receive them.
