DHS Funding Available for Dementia Live Training Program
Posted on March 3, 2021 by Lori Meyer
The Minnesota Department of Human Services, through the Nursing Facility Rates and Policy (NFRP) Division and the State Civil Monetary Penalties (CMP) Initiative, is seeking proposals from qualified Minnesota Medicaid-Certified Nursing Facilities that are interested in implementing a Dementia Live Training Program.
Dementia Live provides an interactive, live experiential simulation program that promotes a unique “inside-out” perspective of cognitive and sensory impairment. Participants gain a heightened understanding of the dementia experience that can aid in fostering empathy and practical tools that can improve care for older adults living with dementia. This dementia training empowers caregiving staff with skills to help transform how they think about persons with dementia and feel about the relationships they maintain with facility residents. For more information about this dementia training, view the video clip.
Successful applicants will receive grant funding that will cover the cost of the training and consultation and must contract with Age-u-cate Training Institute for these services.
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis, until midnight on July 1. An informational webinar will be held for interested facilities on April 22 at 1:00 p.m. For more information, visit the DHS nursing home webpage and select the “Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) Initiative” link on the page.
