Covenant Living of Golden Valley, a LeadingAge Minnesota member, has been awarded the 2023 ICAA NuStep Beacon Award, solidifying its position among North America's Top 25 'Best in Wellness' senior living communities.
This prestigious recognition is a testament to Covenant Living’s commitment to fostering a wellness-centered community that benefits all residents and staff.
The ICAA NuStep Beacon Award, a joint initiative between the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), an organization at the forefront of leading, connecting, and defining the active-aging industry, and NuStep, LLC, a prominent manufacturer of recumbent cross-trainers widely used in healthcare, senior living, and fitness.
“Our team here at Covenant Living provides residents with so many opportunities to be connected with activities, and we have a really core group that regularly participates in our fitness programs offered,” said Mark Anderson, executive director at Covenant Living of Golden Valley. “This award recognizes the hard work and dedication of both our residents and team members regarding the emphasis on wellness.”
CEO and founder of the ICAA, Colin Milner, emphasizes the evolving importance of wellness in senior living communities. Milner states, “Wellness has evolved from being a programming option to becoming a way of life.” According to a 2023 ICAA survey, 61% of senior living communities aim to have a wellness-centered business model with care services in the next five years.
Covenant Living has played a crucial role in this evolution, partnering with residents and staff to create meaningful opportunities that inspire participants to enhance their quality of life. Wellness, as acknowledged by this award, is derived from our ability to understand, accept, and act upon our capacity to lead a purpose-filled and engaged life. In doing so, we can embrace our potential (physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, environmental, vocational) to pursue and optimize life’s possibilities.
Covenant Living of Golden Valley, a faith-based, not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community in Golden Valley, is administered by Covenant Living Communities & Services, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit senior services providers. Covenant Living serves 5,700 residents at 19 retirement communities nationwide and is affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Congratulations to Covenant Living of Golden Valley for this prestigious honor.
