Coming Soon: Electronic Monitoring Templates
Posted on November 26, 2019 by Bobbie Guidry
The new electronic monitoring requirements for nursing homes and assisted living go into effect Jan. 1, 2020. To help you prepare for the new requirements, we will soon provide you with templates you can use to develop policies and communicate the changes to residents and staff.
The templates are being developed in partnership with Rebecca Coffin, Attorney, Voigt, Rodè, Boxeth & Coffin. We will share more information and a link to these templates in next week’s Advantage and the ALL Countdown newsletter.
Consent Forms
The Minnesota Department of Health and the Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care are working collaboratively on development of the Electronic Monitoring Device consent forms consistent with the new law. Consent forms with instructions have been drafted for each of the following: resident, resident representative, roommate and roommate representative. We received the drafts to review this week and anticipate these forms will be available shortly.
Posting Requirements
Effective Jan. 1, 2020, nursing homes and assisted living settings must post the following statement at each entrance that is accessible to visitors: “Electronic monitoring devices, including security cameras and audio devices, may be present to record persons and activities.”
