Coming Soon: Behavioral Health Training Series
Posted on September 24, 2019 by Jenna Kellerman
Providers in Minnesota have said that one of the biggest needs in communities is training for staff on behavioral health. We listened, and it’s coming soon and it’s free!
LeadingAge Minnesota has designed the Behavioral Health Training Series: Improving Care with Curiosity and Empathy to prepare staff to work with older adults with behavioral health needs. The goal of this training is to provide easy-to-understand concepts, practical tips, and professional development.
In this series, Dr. John Brose, a clinical psychologist specializing in gerontology and behavioral health, provides a video consultation with the viewer. Each video is about 10 minutes long, making it easy for staff to fit in the training during their shift.
Alongside the video, students will complete an eWorkbook. It contains supporting information, activities, and on-the-job practice assignments so that students can cement their new knowledge through real-life application.
The modules include:
1. UNDERSTANDING THE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CONTINUUM
2. WORKING WITH ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION IN OLDER ADULTS
3. MEETING PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE
4. PREPARING FOR YOUR DAY
5. ALIGNING EXPECTATIONS WITH REALITY
6. BOOSTING YOUR EFFECTIVENESS
This training is being provided to members at no charge through a LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation workforce development grant. The training is expected to launch in October 2019. Stay tuned!
