CMS Decelerates New Resident Classification System
Posted on March 20, 2018 by Jeff Bostic
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced last week that the proposed Resident Classification System (RCS-I) is not ready for implementation and may not be included in the upcoming FY19 proposed rule.
We first covered this proposed new system in the Aug. 1 issue of Advantage. During an Open Door Forum earlier this month, CMS said it has received many comments, concerns and questions regarding the new system. CMS slowed down its plans and there is no timeline for implementation of RCS-I at this time.
We will continue to monitor this issue and share updates in Advantage.
