CMP Funds Available to Nursing Homes for Air Filters, Visitation Aids
Posted on February 17, 2022 by Jonathan Lips
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently issued expanded guidance for the COVID-19 In-Person Visitation Aid Grants available to nursing homes.
Medicaid-certified nursing facilities can now apply to the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) for up to $3,000 in Civil Money Penalty (CMP) funds to purchase portable fans and portable room air cleaners (with high-efficiency particulate air filters, at least a HEPA H13, H14 or higher rated filters), strictly for purposes of in-person visitation.
CMS recently updated its Visitation Frequently-Asked-Questions document with considerations for improving air quality, and these grants are designed to provide some funding to support those ideas
Also, facilities that have not already done so may still apply for up to $3,000 in CMP funds to purchase tents, clear dividers (e.g., Plexiglas) and other aids to facilitate outdoor visitation with residents.
For more information on this opportunity, including an application form and accompanying instructions, visit the MN CMP Initiative website and scroll to Current Funding Opportunities.
For technical assistance with your application or questions regarding this funding opportunity or the MN CMP Program, please contact Munna Yasiri at DHS.
