CMP Funding Still Available to Nursing Homes for COVID-19 Technology Grants
Posted on August 5, 2020 by Jonathan Lips
The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is still accepting applications from Medicaid-certified nursing facilities to receive up to $3,000 in Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) funds to purchase communication technology.
As of mid-July, DHS had distributed nearly $500,000 in grants to just over half of Minnesota’s nursing homes. DHS welcomes applications from those that have not yet taken advantage of this opportunity.
The intent of this funding is to expand the capacity for residents to conduct virtual visits with family and friends and participate in telehealth visits through the purchase of tablets, iPads, and similar devices, as well as accessories. The opportunity is limited to nursing homes because the grants are funded by Civil Money Penalties (CMP) collected from them.
Access the COVID-19 Technology grant application and the Minnesota-specific instructions.
On the page, go to “Initiatives,” then click to expand the link(+) entitled “Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) Initiatives” to view the posting. The information is mid-page once you expand the link.
For technical assistance with your application or questions regarding this funding opportunity, contact Munna Yasiri, the DHS staff liaison.
It is important to submit an application soon if you are interested in pursuing funds. Although there is not an established end-date for applications, CMS could revoke its authorization of this use of CMP funds at any time.
