Care Centers: Time to Select New QIIP Goals
Posted on June 2, 2020 by Jeff Bostic
The Minnesota Department of Human Services recently prepared the data needed for all nursing facilities in the Medical Assistance program to select a new goal to work on for another round of the Quality Improvement Incentive Payment Program (QIIP). Each year, based on their progress toward the goal they select, care centers receive a rate increase of up to $3.50 per resident day.
Under QIIP, care centers select one Minnesota Nursing Home Report Card quality of care or quality of life measure to improve using their choice of interventions. DHS encourages facilities to choose a topic on which they are performing relatively poorly and where a relatively large number of their residents are affected.
By July 1, providers are being asked to select a QIIP goal for the rate year beginning Jan. 1, 2022. Incentive payments for that year will be based on performance on a chosen measure for the period of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021.
Find information related to QIIP selection in the DHS nursing facility portal.
