Care Centers: Negative Trend in Financial Results Continues; State-Specific Analysis Available
Posted on October 15, 2019 by Jeff Bostic
The 34th Annual Skilled Nursing Facility Cost Comparison and Industry Trends Report released by CliftonLarsonAllen last week shows the median operating margin in care centers has dipped below zero.
The implications of the financial struggles are evident in other trends measured for the report, including increased debt to capital costs, diminished debt service coverage ratios and reduced capital spending as a percentage of revenue.
The report also explores industry trends that are particularly relevant, including a regional and a new state-specific analysis of financial trends, the increasing importance of Five-Star Ratings, and the dramatic increase in the cost of direct care due in part to the workforce shortage.
