BELTSS Press Release Updates Status of LALD Applications
Posted on May 26, 2021 by Bobbie Guidry
Earlier this week, the Board of Executives for Long-term Services and Supports (BELTSS) requested patience from Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) applicants, provided an update on the licensing of Assisted Living Directors, and communicated a delay in the opening of applications for AL Directors in Residence.
As of May 20, over 1800 applications have been received. Due to that high volume, expect a minimum processing and application timeframe of 7-14 business days to update your online account. BELTSS shared the following reminders:
- BELTSS staff will contact you by email for missing items.
- To allow board staff and members to focus on your detailed professional license application, BELTSS asks you to limit phone calls and emails to the BELTSS office.
- Some applications must be presented to board members following internal protocols. Transcripts often take significantly more time to review.
- Transcripts need to be sent directly by the college or sent electronically to beltss.hlb@state.mn.us. If your transcripts were mailed directly to you by the education entity, the original sealed envelope you received must put in another mailer envelope, unopened, and mailed to the board.
- BELTSS cannot answer those questions regarding criminal background checks and fingerprinting.
- BELTSS anticipates completing all initial applications by June 30 and that the new ALD applications and Assisted Living Director in Residence will be available by mid-June.
The BELTSS office is moving and will be working remotely from early June to Sept. 15 with limited time at a satellite office. You should still send mail to the board office.
