Become An Aging Services Advocacy Champion
Posted on November 17, 2022 by Dan Nelson
In December, LeadingAge Minnesota is launching our Champions Network, a new advocacy-focused membership group with a mission to advance our public policy goals through grassroots engagement. This group is open to all members and will meet virtually once per month.
About the Champions Network
This working group will meet for one hour virtually once per month. During these meetings, the group will discuss advocacy strategies for aging services and work to increase member engagement in advocacy. We will find ways to engage your team members, residents and their families, and your broader communities. There will also be skill-building and opportunities to participate in important advocacy actions, such as testifying at the state legislature and hosting lawmakers in your communities.
Why It Matters
Now that Election Day is behind us, we have work to do! It is more critical now than ever to affirm our current champions and gain new ones in both the State House and Senate. This new legislative landscape means we need to deepen our engagement; the best way to do that is to get caregivers and leaders in front of lawmakers as often as possible. Joining the Champions Network will keep you in the loop, help you gain and sharpen advocacy skills, and give you the tools you need to turn your organization into a well-oiled advocacy machine!
Take Action
To express interest and join the group, email Dan Nelson, Director of Community Engagement for LeadingAge Minnesota, at dnelson@leadingagemn.org. You will receive an email for the initial meeting and ongoing communication from Dan regarding the group.
Dan is happy to discuss anything advocacy related, including ideas for the Champions Network. All you have to do is reach out!
