Assisted Living Survey Readiness: Check Your Postings
Posted on March 14, 2024 by Bobbie Guidry
The assisted living statute (144G) mandates several postings. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has provided a tool on its website, used by surveyors to assess compliance with these posting requirements.
Perform self-audits to ensure compliance
Ensuring effective communication of vital information with your residents and their families and preparing for surveys necessitates regular self-audits of these and other requirements in assisted living statutes and rules. This proactive approach empowers you to stay in control of your facility's compliance.
Posting your disaster and emergency preparedness plan
While the disaster and emergency preparedness plan is detailed, the plan should be posted so that in an emergency, anyone, including visitors and staff, can readily locate the plan to assist in actions and responses.
If the plan is too large to post, it can be placed in a binder that is readily accessible with a posting of the location of the plan in the same vicinity. With postings and binders sometimes removed for review or training purposes, it is essential to have an audit system in place to ensure the availability of the information in case of emergency or State surveys.
